• Representative Todd Hunter (R-Corpus Christi) is waffling on his support for House Bill 861.
• House Bill 861 would empower the TAMU and UT systems to offer employee insurance benefits competitive with other top universities (ie benefits to unmarried partners).
• Rep. Hunter is potentially the swing vote to get HB 861 out of the Insurance Committee with a 5-4 margin.
• Rep. Hunter needs to be convinced to support HB 861 before the Insurance Committee meets again on Tuesday, April 28th.

3. We need more constituent support in Rep. Todd Hunter's district, which includes most of the City of Corpus Christi. Use the "Tell-a-Friend" feature to ask your friends and neighbors to Take Action in support of competitive health benefits for TAMU system employees.

South Texas HIV/AIDS Support Group - Meet others in the Corpus Christi area who are also HIV+. Find others in the community and interact with them online and off. The group is BRAND NEW with less than ten members. We are NOT at ALL affilited in any way with CBAF or VAC.

The Texas Riviera Empire will host "Christmas in July", a series of bar events and cook-outs throughout the month of July. TRE is a 501c3 non-profit organization. We raise money to benefit chosen gay-friendly charities. The proceeds of "Christmas in July" will provide school uniforms and supplies for children in foster care, especially those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.

Children receiving services will be former clients of The Loving Spoonful, or other children identified by CPRS through the Rainbow Room. We especially try to meet the needs of older children, who receive less support from the larger community.

St. Paul UCC has been approached about hosting a Gay Fathers Group at our church. There appears to be interest in meeting other gay fathers and sharing info about custody, legal issues, fellowship and etc. If there is enough interest, then we would set aside an evening for the men to meet.
