As I See It
September 2005
Would you like that in a cone or a cup?
![]() I seem to have a pattern. I have a habit of getting involved with women that have not cut the ties with their ex. I did some quick number crunching and it would appear that every single woman I have been involved with has either cheated on me with their ex or has gone back to their ex. What does this say about me? It's not like I'm going out there looking for them. In all the cases SHE has pursued me. So, I have put a lot of thought in this and I finally realize what it is. As I see it, I am vanilla ice cream. Vanilla. Sounds silly, right? Well, think about it. Vanilla has a distinct presence. It's not overwhelming. It's not overcrowded with a bunch of nuts. It's good, without being over the top. It's simple. That's me simple.
It's okay. I don't mind being vanilla. It could be worse. I could be Rocky Road! I certainly wouldn't want to be Pralines n' Cream...too much going on there! Or what about Chocolate Mint? Too rich...and too bipolar for me. Conflicting flavors and all. Lime Sherbert? Too tart. I'm just not that sharp. It's obvious I'm not Cherries Jubilee...been a long time since I have been that happy and an even longer since I have had my cherry!
No, I'm just plain jane vanilla. The thing about vanilla is that you can dress it up. What ever your mood is. You can add some spinkles to give it a little somethin' somethin'! Makes it just a little sweeter. You can add a banana and call it a banana split. I've done that and it was fun. You can simply add chocolate syrup to satisfy your cravings...but don't stir it...cause if you stir it, you will no longer have vanilla AND chocolate...it will be just chocolate and if you wanted chocolate...you would have dated it in the first place.
