There are a variety of churches here in Corpus Christi, but if you are looking for a place to worship, finding a listing in the yellow pages may be a bit overwhelming. We would like to extend the opportunity for you to look into churches that are geared for or towards gays and lesbians, or churches that are considered very open-minded and accepting to all.

Metropolitan Community Church of Corpus Christi (MCC of CC) is a Christian church that plays a vital role in addressing the spiritual needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community. Many of us were raised in a religious atmosphere where homosexuality was usually associated with shame and guilt. As a result, many of us were cut off from the spiritual dimensions of our lives.

MCC of Corpus Christi provides our community with an opportunity to explore a Christian spiritual experience that affirms who we are--part of God's good creation.

Open and Affirming Congregation Awaits New Spiritual Leader

St. Paul Church is an open and affirming congregation that is about 50-50 ratio of gay/straight. This is the only congregation of this denomination in South Texas that is open and affirming. There are smaller congregations in Woodsboro, Orange Grove and Tinnen.

St. Paul is located at 5525 Lipes Blvd. (2nd light past Saratoga Blvd on S. Staples). We meet every Sunday at 9:30a.m. for Morning Blessing (study group), followed by regular service at 10:30 a.m. and coffee fellowship at 11:30 and L.E.O. (Lets Eat Out) follows. St. Paul is the sponsor of C.A.T.C.H. (Corpus Area Teen Coalistion of Homosexuals), a support group for youth from age 15-21, that gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered or questioning and their friends, family and supporters. We are looking for some dedicated social workers and therapists who would like to volunteer their time in getting CATCH reactivated. The Youth we have been helping over the past several have all gone off to college. We hoping to get the word out to the GLBT Youth of Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend about the services that CATCH offers the youth of the area. THE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST
Although the name is similar, there is no connection between the United Church of Christ and the Church of Christ. The United Church of Christ is one of the newest mainline Protestant denominations, but it dates back to the 15th century Reformation and the arrival of the Pilgrims America in the 17th century.

The United Church of Christ was created when the Evangelical and Reformed Church united with the Congregation Christian Church in 1957.

St. Paul United Church of Christ is the only United Church of Christ in Corpus Christi, Texas - although there are over ninety UCC Churches in Texas and Louisiana and over 6,200 congregations throughout the nation.

The United Church of Christ garnered national attention for it’s “God is Still Speaking” media campaign in 2004 and encourages open and affirming theology in its memberships, with more information available on its website at ucc.org.

St. Paul is the host of the P-FLAG group which meets monthly on the last Tuesday of every month, please call the church for more info.

St. Paul UCC has been approached about hosting a Gay Fathers Group at our church. They are interested in meeting other gay fathers and share info about custody, legal issues, fellowship and etc. If there is interest, then we would set aside an evening for the men to meet.
